St. Rose’s Alumni Association USA ( New York City)
Dear Fellow Alumni and Friends,
Our 2008 Membership Drive has begun and I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with a list of our completed 2007 projects and proposed projects for 2008 and beyond and an application form for our membership application. If you prefer to complete the application on line, you may do so, on our web site and use the Pay Pal system. Our web site address is: http://www.strosesalumni.org and follow the link for membership application and payment.
Our aim for this Membership Drive is to recruit as many alumni and friends as possible to ensure that the organization remains a viable non for profit entity. Our main objective as an organization is to raise funds in order to assist St. Rose’s High School, its faculty and students.
St. Rose’s High School is undergoing tremendous change with regards the school structure. To date major renovations have been completed to the outer facade of the building and the construction process continues. The renovations of the Home Economics Room, Biology, Chemistry and Physics Labs have been completed and the unveiling ceremony was held on November 15, 2007. Our Project Planning Committee Cheer person, Mrs. Mary Jagdeo-Ferreira, was on hand for the ceremony and Prize Giving ceremonies (Visit our web site for further updates and pictures of this spectacular event). Below is a list of all completed projects in 2007.

Our most pressing commitment is to provide funding to begin the renovations of the Basket Ball Courts, the Outfitting of all the Science Labs, purchasing router for headmistress’ office, repair and refurbishing of the library, purchasing 33 computers for the computer room and 12 for the library for research and supply equipment for the Industrial Arts Room.
The Project Planning Committee has solicited donations for computers for an organization, but although we have confirmation of our request, to date we have not received any additional response. The organization was very fortunate to have raised a total of $5,057.02 from our Atlantic City Bus Ride and our Annual Tea Party. Our financial goal for fiscal year 2007 is $10,000.00 and it is our hope that our up coming Memorial Day Weekend Dance will net at least $5,000.00. We are working very hard to accomplish our financial goals and would encourage each of you to support this event with the purchase of at least one ticket. Tickets are available now for $20.00 before the event and $25.00 at the door on the evening of the dance.
Your involvement in the alumni organization whether you live in the tri state area or not is important to us. By increasing our membership we would be in a better position to organize more successful fundraisers and also to benefit from your input regarding the functioning of our organization.
Please take this opportunity to nominate yourself to serve on our Executive Board or chair one of many Committees by including your interest on the application form. To serve on the EB “the person should have been an active participant on any Committee and an active member for at least one (1) year” (Article 1V Officers A). If you feel that you meet these criteria and are interested, please let us know.
To all those members who submitted their applications and supported our events in the past year, thank you very much, we appreciate your involvement and support.
Please, if you have any questions regarding the organization, this Membership Drive or are not sure of the status of your membership, telephone me at (H) 201-967-8410 or (C) 201-421-4165.
We appreciate your willingness to participate in our St. Rose’s Alumni Association and look forward to receiving your membership application. Although there is no deadline for submitting your application, we would prefer to do so as soon as possible. Our Bi- Annual General Meeting is scheduled for April 6 th, 2008 and would like to have as many completed applications as possible by that date.
Yours truly,
Carol Cholmondeley-Jonas, President
