Our committee has targeted three events for this fiscal year: Memorial Weekend Dance - May 23, Labor Day weekend dance – September 5 (a joint venture with Saints and St. Joseph) and a Tea Party sometime in October/November. Both dances will be at the same location: Nazareth Hall. The final profit for 2008 of $7,823.89 for our two dances fell short of our goal of $10.000.00.
Although this year, the committee had a late start in the planning of these events, contracted DJ Perry Mix since DJ Hannah was already booked. We are confident that with your support and the support of our alumni and friends, we can make this as successful as last year’s. This event will be managed by Brenda B.; unfortunately I cannot attend because of a prior family commitment. As you recall, last year’s event realized a profit of over $4,500.00. We are asking for volunteers to assist us with the setting up of the hall and selling in the bar on the night of.
On Saturday, March 28, Ingrid, Beverly, Compton and I attended the first meeting to plan the Labor Day weekend dance. This year, that committee has agreed to sell raffle tickets and the drawing will be done at this event. Our Association is hopeful to have books available for sale at our dance. We are already making corrective plans to some tasks which just did not go well last year. Representatives from St. Joseph and Saints have more than once, complimented us in the thorough way that we manage our events – something we, as an Association, should be really proud of. I will lead the planning of this event and will be reaching out for your support.
Beverly will be spear heading this year’s Tea Party. Although we had planned to have this event last year, the Fund Raising committee felt that we should grasp the opportunity of regaining the Labor Day weekend and thus forego having the Tea Party. This year we have a better grasp and have a strategy in place to successfully direct all three events. We are presently researching some locations because St. Therese of Lisieux is no longer renting their hall because of insurance concerns. Details will be communicated at a later date.
As always, Fund Raising cannot stress enough how appreciative we are of your support; especially those of you who continually give of yourselves to make us as successful as we are: this is indeed a team effort. Again on behalf of Brenda and I, we say “thank you” to the members and all alumni for the hard work and dedication. We would be remiss if we do not acknowledge Naline’s effort to keep our financial records accurate and to all of you who have made donations.
